"Mary Lou’s Mass," a concert of Ms. Williams’ signature sacred work with the Mary Lou Williams Collective, guest vocalists Carmen Lundy and George Shirley (the first African-American to sing lead tenor with New York’s Metropolitan Opera), and a local choir. 8:00 AM, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2019 Fisher Street, Madison.

Symposium on Ms. Williams’ music and legacy and a critical analysis of the current state of jazz and its future as a living art form, featuring guest scholars from around the country. 10:00 AM – 3:15 PM, UW Pyle Center, 702 Langdon Street, Madison. Co-sponsored with the UW School of Music.
(Ticketed) Concert by the Mary Lou Williams Collective, a world-class ensemble led by pianist Geri Allen with guest vocalist Carmen Lundy, featuring a complete performance of Ms. Williams’ "Zodiac Suite" and a sampling of other secular works from her 50+ year career. Overture Center, 7:30 PM.
"Morning Glory," presentation and reading by Linda Dahl, Ms. Williams’ biographer. 4:00-5:00 PM, A Room of One’s Own Feminist Bookstore, 307 W. Johnson Street, Madison. Co-sponsored with the 2010 Wisconsin Book Festival.

"The Music of Mary Lou Williams: A 50-Year Retrospective," a multi-media presentation by Father Peter O’Brien, Executive Director of the Mary Lou Williams Foundation. This program is adapted from a similar presentation given this past winter at New York’s Lincoln Center. 7:00 PM, St. Paul’s University Catholic Center, 723 State Street, Madison.

"The Little Piano Girl," presentation and reading by Maryann Macdonald, co-author of the new children’s book about Ms. Williams’ years in Pittsburgh as a child prodigy. 5:30-6:30 PM, Madison Children’s Museum, 100 N. Hamilton Street, Madison. Co-sponsored with the 2010 Wisconsin Book Festival.
